Our materials

Chrome-free leather

The Italian leather chosen comes from animals raised for the meat industry to limit losses at the slaughterhouse and the impact on the environment.

It is treated without chrome, which reduces the amount of water used, thus producing a sustainable leather that is more respectful of our planet.

Chromium is one of the toxic substances that leaches into the water table and causes serious problems for the environment, which is why we want to use as much chrome-free leather as possible.

The Italian leather supplier we work with is LWG (Leather Working Group) and Reach certified, protecting human health and the environment.

70% recycled rubber

In the factory we use, production off-cuts are reused to manufacture our soles using 70% recycled rubber.

Rather than being treated as waste, these off-cuts are transformed into recycled rubber granules, which are then incorporated into our manufacturing process.

This approach allows us to reduce our dependence on virgin raw materials, save natural resources and minimise waste.

The soles produced in this way have the same quality as those made from virgin rubber.

In this way, we support an approach that promotes a circular and sustainable economy.

Organic cotton

The laces are made of GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified organic cotton. Cotton is a natural plant fibre that grows around the seed. In the case of organic cultivation, cotton is grown without insecticides, pesticides or chemical fertilisers and without GMOs. Between 2020 and 2021, cotton production amounted to approximately 24 million tonnes, of which 250,000 tonnes were organic cotton, which represents 1% of total production.

GOTS certification requires a reduction in water and energy consumption in the production process as well as strict restrictions on wastewater treatment.

It certifies that companies offer safe work to their employees, without discrimination and without the exploitation of child labour.

Only a product with 95% of its fibres organic can obtain the GOTS label.

Cork

Cork is a natural, vegan and ecological material made from the bark of the trunk of cork oaks.
The tree grows in the Mediterranean region, particularly in Portugal and Spain (2/3), but also in Morocco and Algeria (1/3), which together account for 90% of the world’s cork oak forests.

The cork is harvested from an overlay of bark, which means that the tree continues to live and is not affected in its health during harvesting. The lifespan of a tree is about 200 years and the bark is renewed every 9-10 years.

Cork oak is an excellent absorber of CO2, much more so than other types of trees, which makes cork a highly ecological and recyclable material.
